About
From his Dolby Atmos post production studio, Jesse Herrera delivers sound design and mix for theatrical, broadcast, and streaming platforms. His work ranges from TV and film, to short-form content, trailers, ads and immersive experiences and installations.
Recent sound design credits include Emmy winning documentary Wildcat, Emmy nominated HBO Max documentary Tina, and Grammy nominated docuseries, Shangri-La.
A former choir conductor and performing jazz musician, Jesse often designs uniquely rhythmic and melodic soundscapes - playing with - or against - the existing musical score and the film's edit to create an impactful soundtrack that furthers the artistic vision of a film as a whole. In Shangri-La, he takes the audience on a psychedelic sonic trip inside the magical and bazaar world of legendary music producer Rick Rubin. In Sleep, his sound work blends the midnight atmosphere of Los Angeles with the film's live music score to envelope listeners in the lush and dreamy experience of Max Richter's over-night concert.
From 2014 through 2018 Jesse was mixer and sound designer at ad agency 72andSunny. There, he worked on award-winning campaigns and branded content for Google, Instagram, Starbucks, Infiniti, Coors Light, Activision, Adidas, and more.
Jesse did the sound for Infiniti's 2019 QX50 World Premier Reveal Film. It was played in an aircraft hangar at Hawthorne Airport (home to Space X) where a giant array of video screens and a stadium-sized surround sound system encircled the audience. Technical as it was creative, Jesse's mega-structure mix provided the multi-channel, 360º soundtrack to the immersive experience.
