11-channel Impulse response in Altiverb 8 format. Created in the main hall of "Building 15" in the historic Hughes Industrial District in Playa Vista, CA.
Building 15 was constructed for the Flying Boat contract during World War II and was used for the production and assembly of major components for the Hughes H-4 Hercules aircraft, a.k.a "The Spruce Goose".
This IR capture was recorded using a long 48kHz sweep from Altiverb. Speaker was at a distance of 400ft from the microphone array along the length of the main hall. Microphone arrangment was a 4.0.4 immersive array. Ear-level mics were four Neumann U87ai's arranged in a Hamasaki Square (ten ft spacing) with fig. 8 patterns facing sideways (perpendicular to the lenth of the hall). The height array was an IRT cross using SDC microphones facing 45º from horizontal. This 4.0.4 signal was gently upmixed using Nugen Halo Upmix to fill the C and Ls/Rs channels appropriately.
